The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measuring 6 inches by 442 inches with 80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains features fast-cutting aluminum oxide mineral resin-bonded to a durable x-weight cotton cloth backing, providing continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. It is designed for finishing on metal with its closed coat construction that offers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern and should not be run wet. Aluminum oxide is a durable and widely used industrial abrasive effective on various materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The abrasive particles are adhered to the cloth backing with a heat- and pressure-resistant resin bond. These belts come in various widths and lengths to fit multiple belt sanding tools for wood and metal applications, including wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels and metal sheets, medium-width belts for edge sanders suitable for sanding flat or narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts for portable belt sanders used on wood pieces such as cabinet doors. The belts use different splices such as film media splice, which secures ends with a joining film to minimize chatter marks and ensure smooth running and consistent finishing, and sine wave splice made of interlocking fingers that reduce hinging, enable smooth travel over contact wheels, and provide added strength to the joint area.
