The 3M™ cloth belt 341D measures 8" x 94-1/2" with 60 grit aluminum oxide abrasive grains resin-bonded to a durable X-weight cotton cloth backing, designed to provide continuous cut and long-life performance for more aggressive dry sanding applications. The closed coat construction offers a consistent, fine finish suitable for producing a grain pattern on metal, and the belt should not be run wet. The aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in industrial applications due to its cut-rate, durability, and long life, and it is effective on a variety of materials including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. The resin bond secures abrasive particles to the cloth backing, enabling the belt to withstand high heat and pressure. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts fit many belt sanding tools; wider belts are used on wide belt sanders for dimensioning or finishing wood panels, smoothing metal sheet edges, or adding grain patterns to stainless steel, medium-width belts fit edge sanders for flat, narrow surfaces like panel edges, and narrow belts work with portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood components such as cabinet doors. Belts feature different splices such as film media splices that minimize chatter marks for smooth running and consistent finishing, or sine wave splices with interlocking fingers that travel smoothly over contact wheels, reduce hinging, and add strength to the joint area, typically used for coarser applications. The product carries a warranty covering defects in material and workmanship under normal use.
