The 3M™ paper belt 346UZ measures 36 inches by 75 inches and features P150 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It is constructed with a premium aluminum oxide mineral in an open coat construction for loading resistance, coated on an F-weight paper backing known for its rigidity and ability to achieve finer finishes compared to cloth-backed belts in the same grade. The F-weight paper backing provides smooth operation and durability. The open coat structure resists loading better than closed coat belts, especially on soft wood. The belt incorporates 3M Dust Management technology that reduces static cling in dust particles, facilitating easier evacuation when used with an efficient dust collection system. The belt ends are joined using a sine wave splice, which promotes strength, resists hinging and splice fatigue, travels smoothly over contact wheels and platens, minimizes chatter marks, and promotes smooth operation in either direction for consistent finishing results. The premium aluminum oxide abrasive is chosen for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, long life, and low heat retention, and is suitable for a wide variety of substrates in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
