It features an open coat construction on an F-weight paper backing, which is one of the heaviest and most rigid paper backings available, providing efficient sanding and finishing with smooth operation and durability. The open coat structure resists loading better than closed coat belts, especially on soft wood, and incorporates 3M Dust Management Technology that reduces static cling of dust particles, facilitating easier evacuation when used with an efficient dust collection system. The belt ends are joined with a sine wave splice that enhances belt strength, resists hinging and splice fatigue, travels smoothly over contact wheels and platens, minimizes chatter marks, and allows smooth operation in either direction for consistent finishing results. The premium aluminum oxide abrasive is a durable, tough mineral that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges during use, offering a high cut rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for sanding and finishing various substrates in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
