The 3M™ Paper Belt 346UZ measures 37 inches by 75 inches and features a P150 grit premium aluminum oxide abrasive mineral with an open coat construction designed for loading resistance. It is coated on an F-weight paper backing, one of the heaviest and most rigid paper backings available, which provides smooth operation, durability, and achieves finer finishes compared to cloth-backed belts of the same grade. The open coat structure helps resist loading, especially on soft wood, and incorporates 3M Dust Management Technology to reduce static cling of dust particles, improving evacuation when used with an efficient dust collection system. The belt ends are joined with a sine wave splice that enhances belt strength, resists hinging and splice fatigue, travels smoothly over contact wheels and platens, minimizes chatter marks, and supports smooth operation in either direction for consistent finishing results. The premium aluminum oxide abrasive is known for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, low heat retention, and long life due to its self-fracturing property that exposes fresh cutting edges during use. This abrasive is suitable for sanding and finishing a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
