The 3M™ Trisect™ cloth belt 217EA measures 3" x 132" and features A100 grit aluminum oxide abrasive designed for use on hard metals such as carbon and stainless steel. Its abrasive and resin structure breaks down under medium pressure to maintain fresh, sharp mineral cutting for consistent finishes. The belt includes a grinding aid to prevent heat buildup, warping, and discoloration, and is constructed on a J-weight durable cloth backing that provides control, conformability, and effective medium-pressure grinding. The resin bonded abrasive enhances heat resistance and helps prevent delaminating, while a film media splice securely joins the belt ends, minimizing chatter marks and ensuring smooth operation and consistent finishing results. Proprietary Trisect™ abrasives produce finer finishes, faster results, and longer life compared to conventional abrasives, with belts lasting up to five times longer and enabling operators to reduce grade sequences and process steps. The three-dimensional abrasive structures are uniformly distributed to ensure consistent performance and eliminate part-to-part variation. Applications include blending, finishing, intermediate finishing, polishing, and shaping for industries such as builders hardware, medical instruments, metal fabrication, metal implants, plating and polishing, plumbing fixtures, and turbine engines.
