3M™ paper belt 346UZ measures 54" x 103" with P120 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It is constructed using a premium aluminum oxide mineral featuring an open coat construction on an F-weight paper backing, which is one of the heaviest and most rigid paper backings available, providing smooth operation, durability, and finer finishes than cloth-backed belts of the same grade. The open coat structure enhances resistance to loading, especially on soft wood, and incorporates 3M Dust Management technology to reduce static cling in dust particles, facilitating easier dust evacuation with an efficient dust collection system. The belt ends are joined using a sine wave splice that promotes belt strength, resists hinging and splice fatigue, travels smoothly over contact wheels and platens, minimizes chatter marks, and allows smooth operation in either direction for consistent finishing results. The aluminum oxide abrasive is known for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it a durable, self-fracturing abrasive suitable for sanding and finishing a wide variety of substrates in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
