The 3M™ paper belt 346UZ measures 52" x 128" with a P180 grit and is constructed of a premium aluminum oxide mineral featuring an open coat construction designed for loading resistance. It is coated on an F-weight paper backing, one of the heaviest and most rigid paper backings available, which achieves finer finishes than cloth-backed belts in the same grade. The paper backing provides smooth operation and durability, while the open coat structure resists loading better than closed coat belts, particularly on soft wood. This belt incorporates 3M Dust Management Technology that reduces static cling in dust particles, facilitating easier evacuation when used with an efficient dust collection system. The belt ends are joined with a sine wave splice that enhances belt strength, resists hinging and splice fatigue, travels smoothly over contact wheels and platens, minimizes chatter marks, and allows smooth operation in either direction for consistent finishing results. The aluminum oxide abrasive is a tough, durable mineral that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges during use, offering a high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention suitable for sanding and finishing on various substrates including wood, metal, and ferrous alloys. The belts are available in many widths and lengths and are compatible with various belt sanders for industrial woodworking and metalworking applications.
