The 3M™ paper belt 466UZ measures 52" x 103" and features a P400 grit silicon carbide mineral abrasive bonded to an F-weight paper backing, which is one of the heaviest and most durable paper backings available, providing finer finishes than cloth-backed belts in the same grade. The belt has a semi-closed coat construction that efficiently sands and finishes flat surfaces in woodworking applications and a closed coat abrasive side structure that offers greater grain density for finer finishes compared to open coat belts. It includes dust management technology to reduce static cling in dust particles, improving dust removal efficiency when used with a dust collection system. The belt ends are joined with an interlocking sine wave splice for enhanced belt strength, resistance to hinging and splice fatigue, smooth travel over contact wheels and platens, reduced chatter marks, and consistent operation in either direction. The P-graded abrasive grains are screened to a finer tolerance for a more uniform surface finish. This silicon carbide abrasive is sharp and ideal for low pressure applications such as final finishing in whitewood sanding, producing a superior finish despite breaking down faster than aluminum oxide. The 466UZ abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths for use on a wide range of belt sanding tools, suitable for both wood and metal applications.
