The 3M™ TRISECT™ cloth belt 217EA measures 3" x 168" with A45 grit aluminum oxide abrasive and a resin structure formulated to break down under medium pressure, maintaining fresh, sharp mineral cutting for consistent finishes on hard metals such as carbon and stainless steel. It incorporates a grinding aid to prevent heat buildup, warping, and discoloration. The belt is built on a J-weight, durable cloth backing that offers control, conformability, and effective medium-pressure grinding, with a resin bonded abrasive that enhances heat resistance and helps prevent delaminating. A film media splice provides a strong, secure bond joining the belt ends, minimizing chatter marks and ensuring smooth running and consistent finishing results. Proprietary TRISECT™ abrasives deliver a finer finish, faster results, and longer life compared to conventional abrasives, starting sharp and staying sharp for more predictable finishes and improved quality. The belts can last up to five times longer, enabling precise finish control and reducing grade sequences, process steps, and abrasive product usage. The three-dimensional abrasive structure is uniformly distributed over the surface to ensure consistent performance and eliminate part-to-part variation.
