The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 72" and features SFN grit silicon carbide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. The belts come in various widths and lengths suitable for different belt sanding tools used on wood and metal applications. Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a higher cut rate and longer life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts deliver rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing across multiple surfaces, maintaining efficiency by avoiding clogging due to the abrasive belt’s design with small grooves that open around the arc of the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and creating straight-line brushed finishes.
