The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2-1/2" x 60" and is made of CRS grit aluminum oxide. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grind lines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, they are compatible with a range of belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. The belts fit industrial wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders used on wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking file tools to access small areas or inside corners. The belts come with a choice of silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral suited for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard blocky mineral that offers a high cut-rate and long life. Aluminum oxide belts sustain longer use while silicon carbide wears faster but yields a finer finish. Belt sanders employing these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing across various surfaces; their design prevents clogging by opening small grooves as the belt moves around the drive wheel, maintaining efficiency unlike sanding wheels and discs. Typical applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, grain setting, stainless steel finishing, and creating a straight-line brushed finish.
