The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3" x 132" and features SFN grit silicon carbide abrasive. These belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives and are suitable for use on both wood and metal surfaces. Available in various widths and lengths, the belts fit a range of industrial belt sanders, including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders on wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts used with file tools for metalworking in tight areas or inside corners. The Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are made with either silicon carbide, a synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing due to its sharpness and finer finish, or aluminum oxide, known for its hardness, high cut-rate, and long life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging, as the abrasive belt’s small grooves open when passing around the drive wheel, enhancing efficiency. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight-line brushed finish, primarily serving the metalworking industry.
