The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 19" x 48" and features medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This durable belt is engineered for detailed tasks including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring edges, fine and flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. It effectively removes coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in multiple widths and lengths, these belts suit different belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts come with options of silicon carbide—sharp and ideal for low-pressure uses like paint preparation and finishing—and aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral providing high cut-rate and long life. Silicon carbide wears down faster but yields a finer finish. Unlike sanding wheels and discs that may clog, these belts resist clogging due to small grooves that open around the drive wheel arc, ensuring efficient sanding. Wide belts are designed for sanding large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable sanders for wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are suited for file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners.
