The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Belt measures 6" x 48" and features SFN grit silicon carbide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts are compatible with a wide range of belt sanding tools used on wood and metal surfaces. At 3M™, a broad selection of belts fits most industrial belt sanders, including wide belts for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts suited for edge or portable belt sanders used on wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts designed for file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured with a choice of abrasive minerals: silicon carbide, a synthetic mineral known for its sharpness and suitability for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard blocky mineral offering high cut rate and long life. Although silicon carbide wears down faster than aluminum oxide, it delivers a finer finish. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing across various surfaces, with their abrasive belts resisting clogging due to the small grooves that open around the drive wheel's arc, unlike sanding wheels and discs. Applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straight-line brushed finishes. These belts are commonly used in metalworking industries.
