The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt, measuring 6" x 60", features CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive designed for removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to accommodate different belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that delivers a high cut-rate and long life. The aluminum oxide version, used in this belt, balances cut-rate and durability. Belt sanders equipped with these belts provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing across a variety of surfaces without clogging, unlike sanding wheels and discs, due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straight-line brushed finishes.
