The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 6 inches by 79 inches with medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed for removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit a range of industrial belt sanding tools used on wood and metal. Wide belts are suited for sanding and finishing large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for blending or sanding wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking for accessing small areas or inside corners. The belts feature aluminum oxide abrasive mineral known for its hardness and blocky structure, providing a high cut-rate and long life. Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are also offered with silicon carbide abrasive, a synthetic sharp mineral ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but with a shorter lifespan. Belt sanders using these belts deliver rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces without clogging, as grooves in the belt open when traveling around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and creating a straight-line brushed finish, primarily used within the metalworking industry.
