The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 6 inches by 98 inches and features SFN grit silicon carbide abrasive. These belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts can be used on multiple belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. They are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure tasks like paint preparation and finishing, providing a finer finish though it breaks down faster, while aluminum oxide offers a high cut-rate and long life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts perform rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging, due to the small grooves in the belt that open around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending and blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finish.
