The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 3" x 18" and is made with CRS grit aluminum oxide, designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths to fit a range of industrial belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. Wide belts are intended for sanding and finishing large wood panels with wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders used for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking for access to small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasives; silicon carbide is a synthetic, sharp mineral suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral providing high cut-rate and long life, producing a finer finish despite silicon carbide breaking down faster. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, with abrasive belts maintaining efficiency by preventing clogging due to grooves in the belt that open as they move around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishing. This product is commonly used in metalworking industries.
