The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 8" x 60" and features CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives and are compatible with a wide range of belt sanding tools for applications on both wood and metal. Available in various widths and lengths, wide belts are designed for large wood panel sanding with wide belt sanders, medium-width belts suit edge or portable belt sanders for cabinetry and wood blending, and narrow belts work with file tools in metalworking for small areas or inside corners. The belts can be manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a synthetic, sharp mineral suitable for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral delivering a high cut rate and extended belt life. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing with continuous sand without clogging due to small grooves in the belt opening as they pass over the drive wheel arc. Applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, grain setting, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishes.
