The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 4" x 36" and features CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, they are compatible with different belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. Wide belts suit large wood panels using wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts work with file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is sharp and ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide offers a high cut rate and long life, producing a coarser finish compared to silicon carbide. Belt sanders utilizing these belts can rapidly grind, sand, and finish various surfaces without clogging, as the abrasive belt's small grooves open while wrapping around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline brushed finishes, primarily in metalworking industries.
