The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 4" x 60" with medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. The belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools, suited for both wood and metal applications. Wide belts are designed for large wood panel sanding and finishing, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for tasks like sanding or blending cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The aluminum oxide abrasive mineral used is hard and blocky, offering a high cut-rate and long life, making it suitable for demanding applications, whereas silicon carbide produces a finer finish but breaks down faster. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces without clogging due to the abrasive belt's small grooves, which open around the drive wheel arc.
