The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Durable Flex Belt measures 3" x 18" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive on a non-woven fiber material that runs cool, resists loading, and withstands edge work. The aluminum oxide abrasive provides effective cutting action with consistent finishing performance throughout the belt's life, distinguished by its purple backing. Known for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide is a durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, making it suitable for grinding, sanding, and finishing on a wide variety of substrates, including ferrous alloys in woodworking and metalworking. Belt sanders equipped with this belt offer rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing while minimizing clogging due to the small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel arc. This belt is ideal for applications such as blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish, primarily used in metalworking industries.
