The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Durable Flex Belt measures 3" x 24" and features a CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive on a non-woven fiber material that runs cool, resists loading, and holds up to edge work. The aluminum oxide abrasive provides effective cutting action and consistent finishing performance over the life of the belt. This product is identifiable by its purple backing and utilizes aluminum oxide, a tough, durable mineral that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, offering high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention. Aluminum oxide is suitable for a variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The belt is designed for use with belt sanders, allowing rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishes, primarily in metalworking industries.
