The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1" x 132" and features VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives, and are available in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal. Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut-rate and long life. Belt sanders utilizing these belts are effective for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on multiple surfaces and maintain efficiency without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as the belt moves around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishes.
