The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1" x 132" and features SFN grit silicon carbide abrasive. These surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. They are available in various widths and lengths to fit industrial belt sanders used for multiple applications on both wood and metal surfaces. Wide belts are suited for large wood panel sanding and finishing, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders on wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking file tools accessing small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral ideal for low-pressure paint prep and finishing that breaks down faster but yields a finer finish, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces and maintain efficiency by avoiding clogging through abrasive belts with small grooves that open around the drive wheel's arc. Common applications include blending, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish primarily in metalworking industries.
