The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 132" and features VFN grit aluminum oxide. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives, and are available in various widths and lengths to fit a wide range of industrial belt sanders. Wide belts are suitable for sanding and finishing large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for tasks like sanding or blending cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts are made with a choice of silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral used for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that provides a high cut rate and long life, with aluminum oxide offering durability and silicon carbide producing a finer finish although it breaks down faster. Belt sanders equipped with these belts are effective for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, resisting clogging due to grooves in the abrasive belt opening as it moves around the drive wheel. Applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish.
