The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2-1/2" x 60" and features VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral. These SC surface conditioning belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in a range of widths and lengths, the belts fit various industrial belt sanders used for applications on both wood and metal. Wide belts are suitable for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts are ideal for edge or portable sanders used on wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are employed with file tools in metalworking for accessing small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured using either silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral known for high cut-rate and long life, with aluminum oxide providing a more durable finish while silicon carbide delivers a finer finish. Belt sanders equipped with these belts enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging, as the abrasive belts develop small grooves when wrapped around the drive wheel. Applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing a straightline brushed finish, primarily serving the metalworking industry.
