The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2-1/4" x 9-5/8" and features VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit different belt sanding tools for applications on wood and metal, including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders on cabinet doors, and narrow belts for metalworking in small areas or inside corners. The Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are made with a choice of silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral suitable for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard blocky mineral providing high cut-rate and long life; silicon carbide offers a finer finish but breaks down faster than aluminum oxide. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces and maintain efficiency without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel. Applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, grain setting, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight-line brushed finish, primarily used in the metalworking industry.
