The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ durable flex belt measures 1/2" x 12" and features aluminum oxide fine grit abrasives designed for tough detail work such as deburring, blending, and finishing on various metals. It has a reinforced, low-stretch backing with superior edge durability, providing aggressive cutting ability. The non-woven fiber material runs cool, resists loading, and maintains performance during edge work, while the aluminum oxide abrasive offers effective cutting action and consistent finishing performance over the belt’s lifespan. Aluminum oxide, known for its high cut rate, hardness, strength, low heat retention, and self-fracturing characteristic, is suitable for grinding, sanding, and finishing on multiple substrates including ferrous alloys. The belt’s purple backing distinguishes it within the Scotch-Brite™ durable flex line. Belt sanders, used with this belt, offer rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing without clogging due to the abrasive belt’s small grooves opening around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and creating a straightline brushed finish.
