The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Durable Flex Belt measures 1/2" x 12" and features aluminum oxide abrasive on a reinforced, low-stretch fiber backing with a distinctive purple color. It is engineered for tough detail work such as deburring, blending, and finishing various metals, providing aggressive cutting ability with superior edge durability. The non-woven fiber material resists loading, runs cool, and maintains consistent finishing performance throughout the belt's life. The aluminum oxide abrasive is a durable, self-fracturing mineral that offers a high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for grinding, sanding, and finishing on a wide range of substrates including ferrous alloys. Belt sanders equipped with this belt operate without clogging due to grooves in the belt that open during use, enhancing efficiency. Typical applications include blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight-line brushed finish within the metalworking industry.
