The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 19" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive suitable for removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit multiple belt sanding tools for diverse applications on wood and metal. Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces without clogging as small grooves in the belt open while rotating around the drive wheel. Common applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing a straight-line brushed finish within metalworking industries.
