The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 9" x 48" with a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts come in various widths and lengths, compatible with a range of industrial belt sanders, including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders used on wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts suited for file tools in metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. Manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals, the aluminum oxide used in this belt is a hard, blocky mineral providing a high cut-rate and long life, making it ideal for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces. Belt sanders equipped with these belts are effective for blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and straightline brushed finishes, particularly in metalworking industries. The belt’s design prevents clogging by allowing small grooves in the abrasive belt to open as it passes around the drive wheel, maintaining sanding efficiency.
