The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 9" x 60" with a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral, designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts are available in various widths and lengths to fit a wide range of industrial belt sanders, including wide belt sanders for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders used on wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts used with file tools in metalworking for accessing small areas or inside corners. The Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide, which is a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing and produces a finer finish but breaks down faster, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that delivers a high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts offer rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces while resisting clogging due to the small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as they pass over the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing a straight-line brushed finish, primarily suited for metalworking industries.
