The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1/4" x 24" and features aluminum oxide CRS grit. It is a durable belt engineered for detail work including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring and deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. These belts are effective at removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in multiple widths and lengths to fit a wide range of belt sanding tools, Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts accommodate applications on both wood and metal surfaces. Wide belts are suited for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts fit edge or portable sanders for wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are designed for metalworking file tools to reach small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured using either silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure tasks like paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that delivers a high cut rate and long life. Silicon carbide breaks down quicker but produces a finer finish compared to aluminum oxide. Belt sanders enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various materials and maintain efficiency as small grooves in the abrasive belt open while moving over the drive wheel, preventing clogging common to sanding wheels and discs.
