The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 1-1/2" x 132" and features a VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are designed to effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, the belts are compatible with multiple belt sanding tools, supporting diverse applications on both wood and metal. Wide belts suit sanding and finishing large wood panels with wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking for accessing small areas or inside corners. The belts are made with a choice of synthetic silicon carbide, suitable for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing due to its sharpness, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that offers a high cut rate and long life. Aluminum oxide provides a coarser cut with greater durability, while silicon carbide produces a finer finish but breaks down faster. Belt sanders with these belts provide efficient grinding, sanding, and finishing across various surfaces by resisting clogging through small grooves that open as the belt moves over the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and producing a straightline brushed finish.
