The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ SE Surface Conditioning Belt measures 3-1/2" x 15-1/2" and features a fine grit aluminum oxide abrasive constructed of resin-reinforced non-woven fiber, providing resistance to loading and preventing under-cutting or gouging of the workpiece. Engineered for high initial and extended rates of cut with superior edge durability, the belt is suitable for low stretch applications and includes a woven fabric (scrim) embedded in the nylon structure to enhance strength and durability for edge work, deburring, and efficient blending of all metal types. The aluminum oxide abrasive is a coarse grade mineral known for its toughness, durability, self-fracturing properties to expose fresh cutting edges, high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for grinding, sanding, and finishing across a wide variety of substrates including ferrous alloys in both woodworking and metalworking. Belt sanders equipped with this belt are efficient in rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, avoiding clogging due to the small grooves in the abrasive that open as the belt moves around the drive wheel. Common applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, overall finishing, flat finishing, and setting.
