The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ SE surface conditioning belt measures 3-1/2" x 15-1/2" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive. Constructed of resin-reinforced non-woven fiber, this belt resists loading and prevents under-cutting or gouging of the workpiece, offering high initial and extended rates of cut with superior edge durability suitable for low stretch applications. A woven fabric (scrim) embedded in the nylon structure provides additional strength and durability for edge work, deburring, and efficient blending on all metal types. The non-woven material combined with the abrasive grain delivers a great finish or removes burrs effectively. The belt uses a coarse grade aluminum oxide abrasive known for its cut-rate, long life, and toughness; it self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges, outperforming traditional abrasives such as garnet. Aluminum oxide offers high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, making it suitable for a wide variety of substrates in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Belt sanders equipped with this belt ensure rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as they move around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, flat finishing, and setting.
