The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 4" x 80" with a VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral, designed for use on industrial belt sanders of various sizes. These belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives on wood and metal surfaces. The product includes options for silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasives, where aluminum oxide provides a hard, blocky mineral with a high cut rate and long life, and silicon carbide offers a sharper finish suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing. The belt’s design incorporates small grooves that prevent clogging during rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing, maintaining effectiveness on multiple surfaces. Typical applications cover blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish, primarily in metalworking industries. The product complies with industrial standards and is suitable for wide belt sanders used on large wood panels, medium-width belts for portable or edge sanders, and narrow belts tailored for metalworking file tools to access small areas or inside corners.
