The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 30" and features a VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral, designed for removing coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs from cutting tools or conventional abrasives on both wood and metal surfaces. The kit includes belts available in various widths and lengths to fit most industrial belt sanders, including wide belts for large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders used in cabinetry, and narrow belts for metalworking file tools for accessing small areas or inside corners. Manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasives, the aluminum oxide version offers a high cut rate and long life due to its hard, blocky mineral composition, while silicon carbide provides a sharper cut suitable for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing but breaks down faster and yields a finer finish. These belts are compatible with belt sanders used for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, maintaining efficiency without clogging due to small grooves that open as the belt moves over the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, corner blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight-line brushed finish, primarily within the metalworking industry.
