The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 34" and features CRS grit aluminum oxide. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, they are compatible with a wide range of belt sanding tools used for applications on both wood and metal. The belts are designed for use on wide belt sanders for sanding large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders to blend wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts with file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. Manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals, the silicon carbide options are very sharp and suitable for low-pressure applications like paint prep and finishing, while aluminum oxide provides a high cut rate and long life with a harder, blockier structure. Although silicon carbide breaks down faster, it produces a finer finish. Belt sanders equipped with these belts are ideal for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces, maintaining efficiency by resisting clogging through small grooves in the abrasive belt that open around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight-line brushed finish, primarily in the metalworking industry.
