The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 25" x 48" with a VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It is designed for detailed work including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring and deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. The belt effectively removes coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts come in various widths and lengths suitable for different belt sanding tools used on both wood and metal. Wide belts are intended for sanding and finishing large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for tasks like sanding or blending smaller wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking for accessing small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are made with either silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive mineral; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering high cut-rate and long life. Silicon carbide wears down faster but provides a finer finish. Belt sanders provide rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on multiple surfaces and maintain efficiency by preventing clogging through grooves in the abrasive belt that open as the belt passes around the drive wheel. The product complies with industrial standards for abrasive tools and includes the manufacturer’s warranty that covers defects in material and workmanship for the specified period.
