The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Durable Flex Belt measures 1/4" x 18" and features an aluminum oxide CRS grit designed for tough detail work such as deburring, blending, and finishing on various metals. It has a reinforced, low-stretch backing with superior edge durability to provide aggressive cutting ability. The non-woven fiber material runs cool, resists loading, and holds up well during edge work, while the aluminum oxide abrasives ensure effective cutting action and consistent finishing performance throughout the belt's life. Identified by its purple backing, this belt uses aluminum oxide abrasive, known for its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, low heat retention, and self-fracturing properties that expose fresh cutting edges during use, making it suitable for woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Belt sanders with this product excel in rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces without clogging, due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as they pass around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish, primarily within the metalworking industry.
