Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are designed to effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. These abrasive belts come in a variety of widths and lengths, suitable for a range of belt sanding tools and applications on both wood and metal surfaces. The product selection includes wide belts for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable sanders, and narrow belts for file tools in metalworking. Available with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals, silicon carbide is ideal for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing due to its sharpness, while aluminum oxide offers a high cut-rate and longevity. Although silicon carbide tends to break down quicker, it yields a finer finish. Belt sanders are preferred for their efficiency in grinding, sanding, and finishing, as they resist clogging thanks to small grooves in the belts that open during use.
