The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 37" x 60" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive, designed for detailed work such as blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring and deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. These surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives and come in multiple widths and lengths suitable for a range of belt sanding tools applied to both wood and metal. The Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are available with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral ideal for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, while aluminum oxide offers a hard, blocky structure for high cut-rate and extended life, producing a coarser finish than silicon carbide which breaks down faster but yields finer results. Belt sanders using these belts are effective for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing across various surfaces and maintain efficiency without clogging due to the small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as they pass over the drive wheel, unlike sanding wheels and discs that clog quickly depending on the material worked.
