The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 37 inches by 75 inches and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral designed for durable detail work including blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, deburring edges, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving straightline-brushed finishes on various metals. These surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in different widths and lengths, the belts are compatible with a variety of belt sanding tools and can be used on both wood and metal materials. Wide belts suit large wood panels on wide belt sanders, medium-width belts fit edge or portable sanders ideal for wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to reach small areas or inside corners. The Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are manufactured with either silicon carbide, a synthetic, very sharp abrasive mineral suitable for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, or aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that delivers high cut-rate and long life; while silicon carbide produces a finer finish, it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide. Belt sanders offer rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing across various surfaces and maintain efficiency without clogging, thanks to small grooves in the belts that open as they move around the drive wheel.
