The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 4" x 118" and features a CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, the belts are compatible with a wide range of belt sanding tools suited for applications on wood and metal. Wide belt sanders are ideal for sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces such as cabinet doors, and narrow belts are used with file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; aluminum oxide provides a high cut-rate and long life with a hard, blocky structure, while silicon carbide offers a sharper synthetic mineral suited for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing but breaks down faster and produces a finer finish. Belt sanders deliver rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on various surfaces without clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt that open as it moves around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straightline brushed finish, primarily serving the metalworking industry.
