The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 42" and features a medium grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral, which is a hard, blocky mineral providing a high cut-rate and long life. These SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, they are compatible with a wide range of industrial belt sanding tools used on wood and metal. Wide belts suit large wood panels for sanding and finishing, medium widths fit edge or portable belt sanders for blending wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are designed for file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts utilize abrasive minerals such as silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral ideal for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, though it breaks down faster but produces a finer finish, and aluminum oxide for more durable, high-performance sanding. Belt sanders enable rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing on different surfaces, maintaining efficiency by preventing clogging due to small grooves in the abrasive belt opening as they move around the drive wheel arc.
