The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 48" and is made with CRS grit aluminum oxide abrasive. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts effectively remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, and small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. Available in various widths and lengths, these belts are compatible with a range of industrial belt sanding tools to accommodate multiple applications on both wood and metal surfaces. The collection includes belts suited for wide belt sanders used in sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts for edge or portable belt sanders designed for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts for file tools in metalworking that access small areas or inside corners. Scotch-Brite™ SC belts are manufactured with abrasive minerals such as silicon carbide, which is sharp and ideal for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing, and aluminum oxide, a hard, blocky mineral that offers a high cut rate and extended life. While silicon carbide produces a finer finish but breaks down more quickly, aluminum oxide provides durability. Belt sanders equipped with these abrasive belts offer rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing capabilities and avoid clogging due to the grooved design of the belts as they pass around the drive wheel. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and creating a straightline brushed finish, primarily in metalworking industries.
