The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ surface conditioning belt measures 2" x 34" and features VFN grit aluminum oxide abrasive mineral. These Scotch-Brite™ SC surface conditioning belts are designed to remove coarse grindlines, mill marks, or small burrs left by cutting tools or conventional abrasives. They are available in various widths and lengths to fit a wide range of industrial belt sanding tools used on both wood and metal. Wide belts are ideal for wide belt sanders used in sanding and finishing large wood panels, medium-width belts fit edge or portable belt sanders for sanding or blending wood pieces like cabinet doors, and narrow belts are suitable for file tools in metalworking to access small areas or inside corners. The belts are manufactured with a choice of silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive minerals; silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral used for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing, producing a finer finish but breaking down faster, whereas aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral offering a high cut rate and long life. Belt sanders equipped with these belts are effective for rapid grinding, sanding, and finishing various surfaces, with the advantage that the belts resist clogging due to small grooves that open as they move around the drive wheel arc. Typical applications include blending, blending corners, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, fine finishing, finishing, flat finishing, setting the grain, stainless steel finishing, and achieving a straight-line brushed finish, serving primarily industries such as metalworking.
